The problem with the comparison is - the taxation and GDP parameters might not have the same significance on both the lands. India fills a lot of these gaps by societal bonds and other traditional and local methods, solutions. E.g. in the USA there is an over-reliance owing to the unique geography, food habits and availability, lifestyle on expensive diagnostic and curative medical services, run by large lobbies with very less wiggle room, and so the inflated cost. In India that bedrock is handled by AYUSH trained medical professionals, a homeopathic or Ayurveda physician can provide a lot of general physician services at a very low cost, India provides enough independence and wiggle rooms for such practices to take shape and flourish. Same can be said about various other societal norms like parents are taken care off by children which doesn't inflate the cost as in the USA where private agencies handle these services. So yes there are some parallels but in India money is not such a huge differentiator than practices and process run by the communities.
